Handicap -5.5 : +5.5
What you are about to read here derives from my constant lean for teams that possess chemistry and despite lacking excessive talent they simply make it because they can defend effectively and play some rational basketball.
Aris is maybe the team most fitting my previous definition, i am once again impressed by the way they moved in summer transfers picking (with maybe the exception of Marsall) critical key players that will fit directly in the game plan. Above all, Aris is still a team of character and with a clear game plan which always starts from defence and i have utmost respect for that. Maybe i am the only one, but i don't see Aris as the underdog here, at least not in the 6 points margin given by most bookies around. Its the character and nature of today's opponents that make me thing for a close derby, with Aris side being clear about taking something like a small revenge for the EC last game disqualification by the hosts (of course their loss at Bnei had ostly to do with it).
Clark (Aris PG) gave a clear message about the latter, by adding an extra motive to the importance of the game (''whoever wins gets a clear advantage for the EL posts), but what makes me lean towards the visitors here is the fact that these teams have weirdly met too many times so far and always the visitors play better than being the hosts. Even in the sole game that the home team registered a win (opening game of the HEBA in Thessaloniki), it was a hard fought win and certainly cannot be as seriously judged given that teams were not really ready. Panellinios seems to be under a good moon, but in my view they don't play as good as in previous months, they have relaxed in the defense somewhat and they rely more than they should in 3 point shots and personal talent than adjusting their very organized game we admired during Nov-early December.
No absentees for both, both coaches emphasized on taking the control of the game and avoiding mistakes, so overall i rate this as an equal one and going for the away side. Aris got a very hard fought win in Trikala, suffered a loss form Bnei mid week, but its a team you expect to react, they simply don't give up easily even when they feel they are not getting anything in the court. Supporting the under also in this one, i can see Aris slowing down the pace once again and who better to do that than Matzon. Zouros will have no problem following since his mentality is not that far from it. Medium stakes for both bets. GL!
