Quite a crucial battle at the bottom of the standings between Pau-Orthez and Paris-Levallois tonight.
I’ve liked the hosts for a couple of month till now, and would have gone on them had the spread not been that high. But the line released by Bet365 is quite unrealistic as I was expecting 4, 5 points at best.
This bet is more based on the improved form of Paris who won its last two games under new coach Dupraz. It seemed that he gave a new confidence to some players like Torbert and Mizrahi. Of course another great factor is that they have filled the hole in the paint with Kimani Ffriend who has average 25pts, 10 boards in latest games, and this made a major difference in Paris plans, since the Frontcourt looks great, with Akpomedah and Gray. Foster has also been doing well with a huge performance @ Strasbourg (33 rankings) as he and backcourts players could find more easy shoots in general.
As I said I like this team of Pau, but they sems to have some problems to confirm their away performance and play below their possibilities at home. Their success depends a lot on their shooters, and if they have a decent 3pt % they are tough to handle. But I don’t like their match up for tonight fixture, as their frontcourt is under Paris’ level, plus Akindele is foul prone and this could be decisive as in last Paris games, Refs destroyed opponents frontcourt : In Strasbourg, and against Dijon Simon had 3 fouls in 8 minutes. On the contrary Pau has a better backcourt with Graves and Trepagnier.
But tonight I expect a close game with a lot of tension on the court, and this looks more like 55/45, so I have to take Paris to cover the spread tonight.
