New York won 73-51 game one, the numbers are impressive, but they deserve it. New York players were much more aggressive, dominating the boards and 2nd opportunities.
If we look the stats we see that in every one New York were better: FG %, 3 FG%, FT %, Rebounds, Assists, Turnovers, everything!
So, can they repeat this tonight?! No way!
Detroit is a much better team; they are the reigning champions with the best ball movement of the league.
I'll take game one as only a single drop out.
Detroit's coach said:
"We didn't play basketball. We didn't want it, basically," Shock coach Bill Laimbeer said after the Game 1 loss. "New York definitely wanted it more than us, but we didn't want it at all. That was discouraging … we didn't have the desire to compete."
All Star Cheryl Ford returned last game after injured but with lack of fitness she didn't help anything Detroit.
Katie Smith maybe realize the worst game of she's postseason carrear, 0-7 FG and only 1 assist.
The leading scorer in U.S. professional women's basketball history will bounce back for sure tonight.
Detroit victory will be for sure reality, taking this I'll show one curious fact:
Each 6 playoffs games until now played, the team that won the game easily won the 1st quarter:
CON 12 IND 7
SAC 24 IND 14
NEW 14 DET 9
PHO 25 SEA 20
SAN 18 SAC 11
IND 23 CON 13
Yesterday, both Indiana and San Antonio who were defeated in game cruise past their opponents:
San Antonio 86 Sacramento 61
Indiana 78 Connecticut 59
I expect today a blowout victory
